The spring here has been gushing on the property for close to 1,400 years, with a legend that Empress Saimei bathed in it back in the 600s. The water comes up clear but often turns faintly milky with fine flecks of yunohana drifting through it, and it runs fresh through the tubs, heated over a wood fire that keeps it soft on the skin and slow to cool. The indoor bath has a hot tub and a milder one, a cold plunge fed by the same spring water, and a sauna. The inn keeps to just ten room groups a night, on an old walking pilgrim trail near Yokomineji, temple 60 of the Shikoku circuit.
