About
A municipal onsen featuring a large public bath and a charming open-air bath! Horita Onsen has a history as a hot spring area flourishing since the Edo period, located at a key transportation point connecting Yufuin and Hita. The new Horita Onsen opened in April 2003 as a representative municipal onsen of the Horita Onsen village, located at the western gateway of Beppu. In addition to the indoor bath, you can enjoy a seasonal open-air bath with plantings and rock arrangements. There is also a resting room for relaxing after bathing. It is the first municipal onsen to install ostomate-friendly toilets, designed to be easy to use for elderly and disabled people, with handrails installed in the bath and changing rooms.
