Konpiraspa Yumoto Yachiyo

Yachiyo is a ryokan in the town below Kotohira's shrine steps, with two open-air baths on its rooftop, a reclining pool and a round soaking tub, that look out over Kompira-san, the old temple town, the Sanuki plain and, on a clear day, the Seto Ohashi bridge. Two barrel saunas stand alongside them, added when the rooftop was renewed in 2022. Downstairs there's a conventional indoor bath split by gender, and overnight guests can reserve a separate designer-styled private bath. Two of the designer rooms, Kemari and Ogatama, each have their own half-open-air tub fed with fresh spring water. The inn traces back to 1725, when it opened as Shiragaya (志らがや); a later generation renamed it Yachiyo, and the same family still runs it, fifteen generations on. Its spring was registered as Konpira Onsen (こんぴら温泉) in 1976, years before neighboring inns joined it to form today's Konpira Onsen area.
