Shikishimakan

Shikishimakan sits right on the approach to Kotohira-gu, the shrine pilgrims know as Konpira-san. The indoor bath is cypress-lined, with a rock bath and a cypress barrel tub outdoors, plus a sleeping bath, a dry sauna and a cold plunge. Four private baths, bamboo, cypress, rock and ceramic, are free to use any time of day with no reservation needed, and a free foot bath faces the approach itself for resting tired legs before or after the climb. From the upper floors you can see Mt. Iino, nicknamed Sanuki Fuji for its shape, and the approach leading up to the shrine. It's an older ryokan updated in a more contemporary style, and many of its guests are visiting Konpira-san on pilgrimage.
