About

Tsurunoyu (鶴乃湯) is a no-frills communal bathhouse in the Anraku Onsen area of Kirishima, running kakenagashi (源泉かけ流し, free-flowing, non-recirculated) spring water. The water is noticeably cloudy and leaves the skin soft. Inside you'll find a main hot bath, a cold-spring bath, and a utaseyu (打たせ湯, waterfall shower). The men's side also has a small open-air bath along the river. The whole place has the feel of a working neighborhood bath that hasn't changed much since the Showa era.

Kagoshima also has its own Tsuru no Yu. An old onsen with 100% onsen water. It is not diluted, nothing is added, and it is served as is. All the signs around will inform you about this. "100% onsen water - 100% result." Inside, there are two baths, utase-yu and even one rotenburo (outdoor bath). There used to be a sauna but it no longer operates. The water commands respect, very pleasant and oily, the temperature is higher than usual but I don't have a thermometer. By feel, about 44-45°C. So first in the mizuburo (cold bath), then in the main bath, and repeat three times :) It is part of Kyushu 88.
