Yumotokan

Yumotokan is a large ryokan on the shore of Lake Biwa in Ogoto onsen. Its several open-air baths swap between the men's and women's sides each day, with views out over the lake and the hills behind it, and there are two private rotenburo you can book by the time slot, plus a foot bath and a mist sauna. Some room types, including the rooms in the Karoi annex and the suites, also have their own open-air onsen bath. The water itself is soft and clear rather than mineral-heavy, known locally for leaving skin silky-smooth. Day visitors can bathe here too, but only as part of a lunch or dinner plan, not on a walk-in bathing-only basis.
