A gentle alkaline simple thermal spring drawn from Dogo Onsen's No. 1 distribution station in Matsuyama. Lightly mineralized and easy on the body, it is still alkaline enough to leave the slippery, soft-skinned feel that puts it squarely in Japan's beauty-water family — helped along by a generous dose of metasilicic acid, which leaves a thin silica film behind. The posted certificate documents the water for chronic muscle and joint pain and stiffness, cold sensitivity, peripheral circulation disorders, and stress-related symptoms such as disturbed sleep. In the large bath it is reheated to keep it at a comfortable bathing temperature, and for hygiene it is recirculated through a filtration system and disinfected with a chlorine-based agent.
