Myoban Yamanoyu is a simple thermal spring, with 284 mg/kg of dissolved solids and a neutral pH that keeps it gentle rather than assertive. The water is more characterful than that classification suggests: at the wellhead it runs weakly milky and clouded, carrying a very faint hydrogen sulfide note and a salty edge on the tongue. At 79 mg/kg of metasilicic acid it still lands in Japan's beauty-water family, leaving the thin silica film that makes skin feel smoother afterwards. The certificate documents the water for neuralgia, muscle and joint pain, frozen shoulder, cold sensitivity, and fatigue recovery.

About

Immerse yourself in the grace of magma. Yamanoyu, a mountain cabin-style onsen located in the mountainous area of Myoban, consists of two buildings: a panoramic onsen and a private family onsen. From the spacious and open bath with high ceilings and large windows, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the huge arch of the Beppu Myoban Bridge, Beppu Bay, and Mount Takasaki. At night, you can see the beautiful night view of Beppu and the faintly visible night view of Oita City beyond Beppu Bay.

152. Yamanoyu, Beppu ★★ An onsen with a public bath (upper building, 500 yen) and five private baths (lower building, 1500 yen). Operating hours are stated as 10:00 to 19:00 (except Tuesday). They provide a Beppu Onsen-do stamp. Photo of the analysis chart is from the internet and should correspond. We visited the private baths number 4 and 5 on different days for day trips. The baths are very similar, both offering a steep view from the room of a bridge, the city, and forest. You can open the window and step out onto a small balcony to breathe and enjoy the scenery. When sitting in the bath, there is not much of a view. 1. Bath number 4. Water is clear, temperature about 41-42°C. 2. Bath number 5. Water is clear, temperature about 44°C. It's hard not to recommend the private onsen with such a view of the bridge. 03.05.2024 04.01.2026
