Kinsuikan draws its own hot spring from deep under Miyajima, a salty, seawater-derived spring that leaves the skin warm long after you're out of the water. The baths are kept a little cooler than usual, meant for a longer soak rather than a quick one. Bathing happens in two separate indoor halls, one built around stained glass for a nostalgic, old-town feel and the other in cool blue tones for something calmer and more modern. The ryokan's rooftop terrace looks out over the Seto Inland Sea, the Otorii (大鳥居) gate and Senjokaku hall, a quiet spot to watch the evening light.
