About

A small village-run bath in Hibara, Kitashiobara, with separate men's and women's sides. Each has a single small tub, roughly two tatami mats in size, and a few wash taps with shampoo and body soap provided. The water is clear and odorless, smooth on the skin, and not heated, so it is on the lukewarm side and easy to sit in for a long time. Through the lower-frosted windows you can see Lake Hibara when you stand up, and the women's side is said to have the clearer view past the trees. Across from the changing room there is a tatami rest area. It is quiet, often nearly empty, and a good stop after a walk around the lakes or a day of fishing. Bring your own towel.
