Family-run minshuku near Lake Hibara with an open-air bath
Uses natural hot spring water
Open-air outdoor bath
A small minshuku on the north side of Lake Hibara, with 12 simple Japanese-style rooms. The baths run on kakenagashi (源泉掛け流し) spring water, and guests mention an open-air bath that is pleasantly warm and easy to linger in. Dinner is generous, with teppanyaki and jingisukan (grilled lamb) coming up in visitor accounts. The place is known among wakasagi (smelt) anglers, since the ice-fishing spot on the lake is a few minutes away by car. It feels like a family home in the countryside, with a friendly host, and sports teams come for training camps. Some visitors say they were invited to soak after a day of fishing.
