707. Ryokan Ryukeien, Tanohara Onsen, Kumamoto ★★ Visited for a day trip for 500 yen. Day trip hours are stated as 08:00 to 11:00, 13:00 to 15:00, and 18:00 to 20:00, but it's better to confirm before your visit. Located not far from Kurokawa. There are three private baths and one public men's bath, situated a bit apart from the main building. At the time of visit, only two private baths were available. 1. The closest private bath, an outdoor stone bath. Located in a low area. There is a wooden partition in the middle of the bath. The water is slightly cloudy, temperature around 42-43°C. 2. The farthest private bath, a semi-open stone bath. Encountered very dense yukemorebi (steam rising from hot water). The water is slightly cloudy, temperature around 43°C. A great place with a remote atmosphere, cool private baths at a very low price. Recommended for a visit. 29.12.2025
