Sodium Chloride spring

A hot 58.5 degree C blended sodium chloride, bicarbonate and sulfate spring. Weakly alkaline and soft on the skin, it sits in Japan's beauty-water family — the chloride base brings a salty edge, the bicarbonate adds softness, and the sulfate lends quiet body. Moderate mineralization (1,257 mg/kg dissolved solids) plus a generous 162 mg/kg of metasilicic acid leaves a thin silica film that makes skin feel noticeably smoother afterwards.

709. Ryokan Yunosako, Tanohara Onsen, Kumamoto ★ Visited for a day trip at 500 yen. Day trip hours are stated as from 10:00 to 12:00 (except Tuesday and Wednesday), but it's better to confirm before your visit. There are private baths for guests staying overnight. During the visit, in the changing room, indoor bath, and rotenburo (outdoor bath), there was a smell of something burning (definitely not from the water), possibly something was burning outside. 1. Outdoor stone bath. View of a clearing, forest, and trees. The water is clear, temperature about 38°C. 2. Indoor area. The air inside is good to breathe; it was cool in winter. 2.1. Main bath. Water is clear, temperature about 41.5°C. 2.2. Reclining bath. There are wooden supports under the head and legs that can be adjusted for comfort - a convenient feature. Water is clear, temperature about 38.5°C. Although the day trip time slot is inconvenient, it is an interesting place. Worth keeping in mind. 29.12.2025
