About

Kura no Yu is the day-use bath at the Michi-no-Eki (道の駅, roadside station) Kita no Sato in Kitakata. It has a large indoor bath, an open-air bath (rotenburo), a sauna and a cold plunge, with washing stations stocked with body soap and shampoo. Visitors mention the high ceilings and open feel of the bathhouse, and that the open-air bath runs on the hot side, which is welcome on a snowy day. The water is from the Kita no Sato spring. Afterwards there is a large hall for resting and a cafeteria in the same complex, and it is a handy stop between sightseeing in Kitakata and Aizu. Many of the bathers are locals.
