Listel Hamanako is a resort hotel above an inlet of Lake Hamanako, with a large indoor bath and an open-air bath fed by the hotel's own onsen water. The water is mild and smooth on the skin. The rotenburo faces the lake directly, sunrise over the water in the morning and quiet moonlight at night, and there is a sauna next to the baths. Day-use bathing is open to anyone, no reservation needed. The building has an older, Showa-era (昭和) exterior with a bit of an ocean-liner look, though the rooms inside have since been renovated. Guests come as much for the lake view and the buffet dinner as for the baths.
