A blended spring drawing on Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsen Village's No. 3 and No. 7 wells — a calcium-and-sodium sulfate-chloride water. Sulfate gives it a settled, mineral-rich body, with a salty edge from the chloride share. It is neutral in pH and moderately mineralized at 1,893 mg/kg of dissolved solids, classified as a low-temperature spring.

Konansou (湖南荘) sits on the shore of Lake Kawaguchi, and the views from the baths make that location count. Both the men's and women's large baths pair an indoor bath with an outdoor rotenburo where you can watch Mount Fuji while you soak. The rooftop foot bath, free for guests, looks out over the lake and the mountain at the same time. On top of the main halls there are private baths (kashikiri, 貸切風呂) bookable by the hour, and some rooms come with their own open-air bath. The water is clear and smooth on the skin. No day use; the baths are for guests only.

I booked a room for one night with meals and an in-room bath, with a view of Mt. Fuji. The hotel is on the south side of Lake Kawaguchiko, with convenient access to the station, and if you want, you can walk there. The hotel has rooms with views of both the lake and the mountain, and the mountain-view rooms are in high demand, so it is better to book early. Dinner is kaiseki served in the room, very solid and tasty. Breakfast is a pretty standard buffet.
Main baths. The changing area is very spacious and comfortable.
1. Indoor area. It is comfortable to breathe.
1.1. Main indoor bath with a view of Mt. Fuji. There is some fogging on the lower part of the glass, but the mountain is clearly visible. The water is clear, and the temperature is 39 degrees, the water in all the hot baths felt like this.
1.2. Utaseyu with three streams. I was there early in the morning, and the utaseyu was turned off.
1.3. Two cold-water barrels on the upper floor.
1.4. Sauna on the upper floor.
2. Outdoor area with a small bath. The water is clear, and the temperature is the same as indoors, 39 degrees. Mt. Fuji is visible, but when sitting in the bath, the fence blocks the view.

168. Konansou, Kawaguchiko (pt.2 - ashiyu, in-room bath, private baths) ★★★
There is a great observation deck on the hotel roof with views of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko. There is also an ashiyu there. The views are excellent, and the space itself is very roomy.
There was a bath on the balcony in the room. The view of Mt. Fuji from the bath is very pleasant. The water is clear, and I think the temperature is also around 39. There are two points about the balcony:
- you have to go up the stairs to get there, so the view from the room itself is not very strong;
- the balcony is kind of shared, and the areas for the rooms are separated by walls, so it will be quite noisy if the neighbors also go out to their bath and make noise.
For ¥3,300, you can rent one of the private baths for 50 minutes. I tried one, it was small, easy to breathe in, and the bath itself had a view of Mt. Fuji. The water is clear, and I think the temperature is also around 39. When I left, the neighboring private bath was free, so I took a photo of that too, and in terms of layout it was very similar.
A very cool hotel in Kawaguchiko with a view of Mt. Fuji, from the room, from the bath in the room, from the private bath, from the public onsen, and from the rooftop observation deck with an ashiyu. The only possible downside is that the view of Mt. Fuji is not across the lake, but across the town. For a Mt. Fuji view, it is definitely worth recommending, though in Kawaguchiko there are plenty of places to choose from with a Mt. Fuji view.
