Toi Fujiya Hotel

A 36-room ryokan in Toi onsen on the west coast of Izu, built along a stream that runs down to Suruga Bay. Twenty of the rooms have their own wooden open-air tub, kept running with real spring water from check-in to check-out. Upstairs there is a gender-separated communal bath and open-air bath overlooking the bay, a sauna, and a reservable private open-air bath with a view. The spring water is salty and stays warm on the skin, drawn from the springs that supply the whole town. The hotel is marking fifty years since it opened, and its rooms have been renovated over the years while keeping their traditional Japanese style.
