Yahata no Yu (八幡の湯) is one of the eight kyodo yokujo (共同浴場, communal baths) of Iizaka Onsen. It is a plain concrete building in a residential street, not one of the old showpiece bathhouses. Inside there is a single tub with colorless, clear, soft-feeling water, and it runs hot. Regulars are used to it and will sometimes top up the cold water for newcomers. Soap and shampoo are not provided, so bring your own or buy them at the counter. Men and women use separate entrances. It feels like a bath the neighborhood actually uses.
