Chanko Chanko no Yu

Chanko Chanko no Yu (ちゃんこちゃんこの湯) is an ashiyu (足湯) footbath in Iizaka Onsen, with room for about five people at a time. It has a name for being hot, hotter than the other footbaths in town by most accounts, though visitors say you can cool it with water. Some find it too much on a warm afternoon and go in and out a few times until the feet get used to it. There is a shaded rest spot behind the bath, and it tends to be quiet. A swallow's nest sits right above, so look up. There is no parking, and no towels on sale, so bring your own foot towel.
