Hakoyu (波来湯) is one of the communal baths (kyodo yokujo, 共同浴場) of Iizaka Onsen, a short walk from the station. The reception and the baths are in the basement, down by lift or stairs. There are two indoor tubs, a hot one and a milder one that is easier to settle into, plus a row of wash stations. No open-air bath and no view, just the water, which is clear, colorless and without much smell, and easy on the skin. Bath towels and face towels can be rented, and there are lockers, but soap and shampoo are not provided. It is a plain, clean public bath with an old-fashioned feel, and it can get crowded, especially right at opening.
