Minami Dogo Onsen Hotel Teiregikan

Every guest room at this small hotel in Tobe, Ehime has its own natural hot-spring bath, drawn from the hotel's own source about 800 meters underground. The water leaves skin feeling notably smooth, known locally as bijin-no-yu (美人の湯), skin-smoothing water. Room types vary: a rock-tub room, a hinoki wood-tub room, one with its own sauna and cold plunge, and another with a slow-heat floor bath, ganbanyoku (岩盤浴); some rooms add a jacuzzi. Day-use bathing is available too, booked by the room rather than sold as a simple entry ticket, and it works well for families with young kids. The hotel brands its water as Minami Dogo Onsen (南道後温泉), a separate source from Matsuyama's well-known Dogo Onsen, about 20 minutes' drive from central Matsuyama.
