Unzen Miyazaki Ryokan draws its bathing water straight from Daikyokan Jigoku (大叫喚地獄), one of Unzen's hot-spring hells, and keeps it flowing fresh into the baths. Men's and women's indoor and open-air baths swap sides at midday, and there is a sauna with a cold plunge alongside them. Three private baths can be booked for a soak on your own. Two of the premium-floor room types add their own half-open-air onsen bath. From the dining room the view opens onto a Japanese garden and the surrounding mountains.
