Tada Onsen Hakuryukan is an old ryokan in the quiet hills outside Masuda, built around a spring that has kept flowing for more than a hundred years. Bathing is split across three tubs: a large indoor bath, a smaller source-water bath, and an outdoor bath that changes with the season and runs noticeably milkier than the two inside. The water itself is acidic and iron-tinted, rust brown with a faint mineral scent, sharp on the skin at first but leaves it smooth and keeps you warm long after you're out. Founded in 1916, the inn has fifteen tatami guest rooms, serves home-style meals built around local Masuda ingredients, and takes day visitors as well as overnight guests.
