Niko Ryokan

A small, old-fashioned ryokan (旅館) in Higashiyama Onsen, Aizuwakamatsu. There is one large bath for men and one for women, and the water runs hot, which hot-bath fans tend to like. Day-use bathing (higaeri nyuyoku, 日帰り入浴) is possible, but the hours change from day to day, so it is worth calling first. The building is a Showa-era inn with steep stairs, thin walls and a tight parking lot, and it is run by a friendly owner. Visitors describe it as a basic place to sleep and soak rather than somewhere polished.
