About

Hashimotokan is a small ryokan in Iizaka Onsen, founded in 1919 and now run by the third generation. The baths are separate for men and women, and the onsen water is natural and kakenagashi (kept flowing fresh). Guests describe it as pleasant to stretch out in. The inn has 11 rooms, filled with antique furniture. Many look out over the Suriage river, and on clear days you can see the Azuma range. Inside it feels like a Showa-era time capsule: lots of wall clocks, signatures from visiting celebrities, and an old Famicom box that still works for a small fee, which is why some people book it. Staff, and the landlady in particular, get warm mentions. Parking is a short walk from the inn.
