Ryokan KOMATUYA

A small, plain ryokan beside the Surikami river at the foot of the Totsuna bridge in Iizaka Onsen. The bath is a large indoor one with soft, gentle water that guests describe as warm rather than scalding, which is not a given in Iizaka. Rooms are tatami, and from the windows you look down on the river, with the Azuma and Adatara mountains in the distance. The building is old and the feel is unfussy, a place people like for good meals in the dining room and a short walk from the station.
