Umegashima Konya Onsen Yu no Yado Shimura

Yu no Yado Shimura is a small minshuku in the mountains above Umegashima, drawing on the Konya spring, one of the area's four sources. The water is smooth and slippery on the skin, and the warmth lingers well after you step out. There are two indoor baths and a rock-built open-air bath, which doubles as a private family bath. Both indoor and outdoor baths look out onto forest, and the inn sits high enough that guests have watched a sea of clouds from the open-air bath. It's a quiet, out-of-the-way place, run by a single proprietress, with the relaxed feel of a family-run mountain inn.
