Jougen no Tsuki (上弦の月) is a private-bath-only facility at Sankawa Onsen in Kumamoto, built beside a clear stream in 2008. All 13 rooms are reserved exclusively for your group, and each one has a distinct theme drawn from traditional Japanese color names, paired with both an indoor bath and an open-air bath. The water feels silky and smooth on the skin, with none of the sharpness that sulfur springs carry. Some rooms have a terrace, some open onto a small garden, and most include an anteroom to rest in before or after bathing.
