A day-use onsen with a summer pool at the roadside station of the same name, plus lots of related activities, camping and glamping, barbecue, a large trampoline center, a restaurant, a souvenir shop, and just great views all around. About an hour and a half from Osaka by car or by train plus bus. The onsen itself is very close to a super-sento, there is a rest area with massage chairs and a tatami area to lie down, a simple restaurant with curry and udon/soba, in addition to a full restaurant separately on the grounds, ganbanyoku, and a pool (the pool is only open from July to September, swimsuits are required, and caps can be rented on site). Indoor area: - One indoor bath at +41.5° with massage jets and an electric bath, plain water - Mizuburo 19° - Dry sauna Outdoor area: - A large stone bath with natural spring water. The water is clear, noticeably salty, and has a distinctive smell. The temperature varies from 40° to 42° in different parts of the bath - Two private barrel baths, 41° Pros: - Strongly salty water - Beautiful stone outdoor bath - Very beautiful location, mountains, river, bridge, dam - Lots of activities besides the onsen Summary: although the onsen itself does not exactly break any records, the interesting water and beautiful rotenburo make a visit a great way to end a full day in a cool location.
