Shimabara Onsen Hotel Nanpuro

Nanpuro is a hotel bathing complex on Shimabara Bay, with a large communal bath and an open-air bath that looks straight out at the sea. Both the men's and women's sides have a Finnish-style sauna, plus a hinoki (ヒノキ) wood sauna, a steam sauna, and three cold plunge baths, along with a slower, lukewarm soak for easing into the heat. The spring water here is said to leave skin feeling smooth rather than dried out. Guests can also book a private open-air bath or a hinoki-scented family bath running on the same natural spring water. It leans as much toward a family resort as a bathing facility: the day-use ticket can be combined with pool access and indoor or garden play areas, the main bath has a small tub sized for toddlers, and there's a foot bath in the garden.
