The hotel's own spring, a sodium chloride water served from a storage tank near the wellhead. At pH 3.9 it sits in acidic territory with a faintly tangy bite on the skin, and the 84.8 degree Celsius source temperature puts it among Japan's hottest natural sources. Total dissolved solids of 3.5 g/kg give it moderate body, and at the inlet the water carries a slight salty edge with a faint metallic note from dissolved iron.

468. Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Hotel Fugetsu, Beppu We visited for a day trip (higaeri) costing 1200 yen (in April 2025) and 1960 yen (in January 2026). On the website, the price is listed as 1200 yen on weekdays, 1760 yen on weekends, and 1960 yen on busy days. The higaeri hours are from 07:00 to 10:00 and from 15:00 to 24:00 (last entry at 22:00). In April, the higaeri access was only to the indoor bath, while in January it included both indoor and outdoor baths. They stamp the Beppu Onsen-do. 1. Indoor area. The air inside is good to breathe. 1.1. Main bath with clear water, temperature around 42°C. 1.2. Small bath with clear water, temperature around 34°C. 1.3. Sauna. 2. Outdoor stone bath. The view standing on the balcony is of Beppu and the bay, but when sitting in the bath, you see a white fence. The water is clear, temperature around 41°C. The outdoor bath looks nice, but for Beppu, the price for this higaeri is unreasonably high. 03.04.2025 04.01.2026
