Okama Onsen sits in the forests of the Nyuto Onsenkyo (乳頭温泉郷) cluster in Akita, with both an indoor bath and a rotenburo (open-air bath). The water runs a distinctive brownish-red and cloudy, setting it apart from the other inns in the cluster. The building is a relocated former mountain elementary school, giving the place a quietly nostalgic feel. The setup is rough around the edges and unpretentious.
