Tairyo

Tairyo is a small minshuku in Kumomi, on the west coast of Izu, with separate indoor and open-air hot spring baths for men and women. The open-air bath sits close enough to a stream that you can hear it while you soak, and the water runs fresh from the source rather than being reused. The inn is run by a family whose head works as a fish-market broker, and dinner is built around whatever he brought back that day, served as a boat-shaped sashimi platter with local prawns and abalone. It's a small, eight-room inn with tatami guest rooms, built as much around the table as the bath.
