Kamitoku-no-yu

Kamitoku-no-yu is a big day-use bathhouse in Imabari with around a dozen baths under one roof. The main indoor bath has an electric bath, a bubble bath, a carbonated bath and a lie-down soak, and the outdoor side adds a walking bath, a Shigaraki-ware tub, an herbal bath and a lukewarm bath fed straight from the source. The spring itself is salty and warming, and reviewers describe it running a distinct amber color. A large sauna room pairs with cold plunges both indoors and out, plus an outdoor spot to cool off, and there is a women-only rock-bath sauna alongside it. The place has the plain, unfussy feel of a neighborhood sento built at a much bigger scale: wide changing rooms and a free rest area with reclining chairs and massage chairs. Seven private family baths are available for groups (five with their own outdoor tub, two with a sauna), first-come first-served with no reservations. Shampoo and soap aren't stocked in the shared baths, so bring your own or add the hands-free set; the family baths do have them.
