About

Totsuna-yu (十綱湯) is one of the communal baths (kyodo yokujo, 共同浴場) of Iizaka onsen, tucked into a residential lane and used mostly by people from the neighborhood. Inside there is a single tub in the middle of the room, filled with the same hot spring water as the other Iizaka communal baths, and it runs hot. It feels more like a local sento than a tourist bath, and it can be quiet enough to have to yourself. There are no showers, so you wash with a basin of hot water, and no soap or shampoo is provided; towels are sold but not lent. Three parking spaces sit at the end of a narrow lane.
